Mazda 3: the new engine SkyActiv-X will be available from autumn

The new engine Mazda SkyActiv-X is ready to debut on the market: in the occasion of the presentation of the Mazda 3 (here our test), the japanese manufacturer has put on show the revolutionary petrol engine with compression ignition. After many months of waiting, finally the SkyActiv-X will be put into production and will be available in the engine range of the new Design, the Kai Concept.

Soon on the market

This new system is called SPCCI (SPark-Controlled Compression Ignition) and, as we anticipated, combines the ignition for spark on gasoline engines, with the compression of a diesel. A goal that is really important that merges performance and low power consumption (for the lovers of the technique, we refer to our article much more thorough).

The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine delivers a power of 180 HP and a torque of 224 Nm and, of series, is joined by technology Mazda M Hybrid. This system mild-hybrid 24 V electric motor supports the combustion, and recovers energy in braking. The new Mazda 3 SkyActiv-X will be available for the majority of european Countries, both in the version of the hatchback, both in the sedan, and is already available for ordering now: the first deliveries will start in the autumn. We can’t wait to try it in preview to tell you how it goes on the road. Below, however, you find a table with technical data of the Mazda SkyActiv-X, consumption and emissions declared by the japanese House.
