The President of the Region of Liguria , Giovanni Toti, spoke on the place of the collapse of the Bridge Viaduct on the A6 Torino-Savona – a km from the junction with the A1 motorway – talk about what happened in the afternoon of today to the microphones of the Bend. (November 24, 2019).
“It seems clear” – says the President – that was a rocky landslide to overwhelm the span, about thirty metres of pillars, and of course, sockliner. We are working with the fire department and the canine unit to see if there is a car involved. It is not a bug for certain, the fire department reserve the right to analyse the land which at this moment consists of two feet of mud. A volume rather important on which they are working to look for these people who may be unaccounted for. We are all obviously hopeful.”
“The stretch of highway involved – adds Toti – is about 30 meters. Obviously will have to be rebuilt in the shortest possible time, as the rest will have to be rebuilt the local road that runs along the highway, also became involved in the landslide. You will need to work on the stump left standing, also to evaluate if the side-to-motorway from Piemonte to Savona may be used for a two-way provisional. We are doing all the appropriate checks regarding the static seal.”
“We hope – concluded Toti – that in the next few hours the roads lathes almost to normal. For all those who in these towns of the Val Bormida may have mobility problems urgent to reach hospitals may contact the Civil Protection or the Red Cross to find a solution that can give followed to the criterion of urgency.”
