Roy Nissany is the new test driver of the Williams: the 25-year-old israeli will participate in three sessions of free practice in the course of the season 2020 Formula 1. Nissany, whose debut with the scuderia Grove dates back to the test in Abu Dhabi last year, will be also a day of tests dedicated to the rookie and will work on the simulator. This together with his commitment in Formula 2, that Nissany will continue even in 2020.
“This is a milestone in the history of motorsport in Israel – said Nissany -. When I got off the track with the team in Abu Dhabi in December, I felt immediately at ease with the car and as part of the team. The experience that I will take part this year, working closely with the Williams this year, it will be invaluable, and I can’t wait to begin, both on and off the track”.
“Roy has demonstrated his ability by driving for us in the post-season Abu Dhabi last year and we were impressed by what he managed to do in a such short period of time. Is a hard worker and we look forward to working with him this year,” said team principal of Williams, Claire Williams. Nissany is missing from the Formula 2 from a year after the experience in 2018, has been stopped for a problem on the wrist.
Readers who are more fans may remember the father of Nissany, Chanoch, for her very brief experience in Formula 1. Nissany senior took advantage of his ample funds to be able to take part in a free practice session valid for the Grand Prix of Hungary of 2005, far from the tender age of 38 years. The comment Nissany on the experience on the track? “Guys, back to the box. I’ve got too much grip”.
