Seat:the primacy of production Martorell in Spain,as well as employee bonus

The headquarters of Martorell confirms the main production of cars in Spain. In 2019, the production of cars for the house Seat grew by 12.1%, reaching the record figure of 592.019 cars (528.293 in 2018). In 2019, Seat produced cars in Martorell, Kvasiny and Mladá Boleslav (Czech Republic), Wolfsburg and Zwickau (Germany), Palmela (Portugal) and Bratislava (Slovakia).

Specifically, in Martorell have been 500.005 the cars churned out from the production lines and, in spite of the blockage of the production caused by the fire that occurred at the plant of a supplier, has achieved the highest production volume since the year 2000. This figure represents a growth of +5.4% to 2018 (474.300) and allowed to Martorell to consolidate its position as a centre of production of cars with the highest production in Spain, the second european market for the production of the car.

Martorell has closed in 2019, with an employment rate of more than 90% of its maximum capacity, and a production of nearly 2,300 cars per day. In 2020, the factory will be engaged in the production of the new Leon, with the logos of the Seat and Cupra, and Cupra Formentor. Also, for the first time will start the production of cars electrified with a hybrid version plug-in of the Leon family. As part of its commitment to the fight against climate change and in favour of decarbonisation, as is the case also for other group brands, Seat has allocated 27 million euro investment for sustainable initiatives at the plant in Martorell, with the goal of lower CO2 emissions (by 2030 will have a footprint of zero carbon in 2030).

With a staff base of 14.663 persons to 31 December 2019, the Seat is also one of the largest employers in Spain. 98% of employees have a permanent contract. This result reached, the Seat will recognize its employees a bonus equal to 1,550 euros, 250 euros more than stated in the Convention collective, as well as the highest figure in the history of the company.
