Audi A6: the plug-in hybrid for the Avant

FOR The EFFICIENCY – To improve the mileage and reduce the emissions of its cars of a larger size, the Audi has decided to focus more on hybrid engines with rechargeable batteries from the outside, which in some junctures of guide arrive to reset the fuel consumption and the carbon dioxide. And so, after the plug-in versions of the sedans A6, A7 Sportback and the suv Q8, comes the first wagon is theAudi A6 Avant 55 TFSI and quattro S tronic, available beginning 75.200 euro.

TWO ENGINES – The Audi A6 Avant 55 TFSI and has the turbo gasoline engine 4-cylinder 2.0 TFSI 252 HP, which is combined with electric 143 HP (it is integrated with the robotized transmission S tronic 7-speed). The electric motor is powered by lithium-ion battery of 14.1 kWh, which limit the capacity of the boot (under the floor panels): with the sofa in use, passes from the 550 litres of the A6 Avant standard 405 litres. The plug-in hybrid delivers a total of 367 HP and 500 Nm of torque, available from just 1,250 rpm: the German house declares 5.7 seconds for the shot ‘0-100’ and 250 km/h of maximum speed.

WE THINK The ELECTRONICS – engine management is entrusted to electronics, but the driver can choose how to get them to operate through three driving modes. In the Ev, theAudi A6 Avant 55 TFSI and gear in the electric for a maximum of 51 km. The heat engine enters the function exceeded 135 km/h or when the driver presses firmly on the accelerator. In the Auto mode, instead, the two engines work in harmony to maximize the energy output: it is in this mode that the wagon comes to travel 55 km/l starting with the batteries fully charged. In the Car, you also get the maximum performance. In Hold mode, is maintained as the charging of the battery and operates most of the thermal engine.

WHERE to RECHARGE it – The battery regenerate completely through an external source, such as the power grid of the house or a pillar that is public: in the case more favorable, that is, through a plant into alternating current, 7.4 kW, the battery regenerates itself completely in 2.5 hours (we need 6 from the home network). A part of the energy it recovers even in the slowing down and braking. The traction of the Audi A6 Avant 55 TFSI is integral, but sending torque to the rear only when necessary, in automatic way, following a logic of intervention is responsive to both predictive.
