The crisis will increase the average age of the car

TERRIBLE EFFECTS , these hours were spread the data the ACI related to the Statistical Yearbook, 2020. Needless to say, the Italian Automobile Club the focus is on the terrible effects of the pandemic Covid-19, the effects they have dragged into the car market to the lowest level ever recorded from the beginning of the century: between march and April 2020, the average has dropped by 80%, with 370,000 new registrations of vehicles in the least, 300.000 of which car.

HISTORICAL RECORD the NEGATIVE – IN may 2020, then, have not been reported shooting significant, in spite of the partial and progressive reopening of the commercial activities, even if at the end of the month, the decline might be smaller. The ACI estimates that, in 2020, the new car registrations fall well below the 1.6 million recorded in 2013. It is also very likely, then, that many potential buyers expect an increase of the incentives from the Government, as requested by all operators in the sector, the ACI included.

EVIL ESPECIALLY TO THE SOUTH – From the point of view of geographic Regions hardest hit will be those in the South who, already today, have many more steps to the property that the first registrations compared to the national average: in practice, recording a 3.6 transfer of ownership of used cars for every purchase of new cars, and where cars Euro 0-1-2-3 constitute 44.5% of the total. For the environment, the consequences will be heavy because it will increase still more the average age of cars in circulation, today to 11 years and 5 months, and we will continue to have in circulation 1 car on the 5-class Euro 0-1-2 (from 18 years onwards).

LESS GREEN – Hamper well as registrations of hybrid and electric, (facilitated by the ecoincentivi from 2015 to 2019), especially due to the price of purchase considerably more high. Surprising also to see that registrations of march and April have returned to a significant extent on the cars fuelled by diesel.

HOW MANY CARS? – In the report, ACI also puts the emphasis on the relationship of the national car-to-population ratio that is equal to 655 cars for every 1,000 inhabitants, while taking into account all vehicles, the ratio rises to 868 per thousand population. In the cities instead of circulating in the media 643 cars for every 1,000 inhabitants: the maximum value of L’aquila (776) and Frosinone (775), the minimum, over Venice (424), Genoa (469) where they are used motorcycles and Milan (501).

EXPENSES – For the rest, the Statistical Yearbook of the ACI photographer also the costs incurred for the car: in 2019 were spent 155 billion euro, more or less like in 2018 (+0,3% ). The higher expense is, of course, the purchase (49 billion), then fuel (39 billion) and maintenance (26 billion). Increasing the items related to tires, maintenance, parking and tolls, while they are in flexion, light, those related to the purchase and awards the RCA.

REVENUE FISSALE – Important to emphasize also the component of tax revenue: last year, amounting to 65 billion euros, a sum in line with the 2018. To the tax authorities the entry more results from the sale of fuels (€35 billion), followed by the VAT for the purchase of the car (about 8.5 billion), and the car tax (6.7 billion).
