BORN LIKE a BODY shop – may 22, 1930, 90 years ago, the body shop sources in the province of asti, Giuseppe Battista Farina (nicknamed Pinin, abbreviation in the piedmont of Giuseppino) based in Turin, Carrozzeria Pinin Farina, which specializes in designing and building custom bodies for individual customers or in small series. This is the era in which the cars are goods for the elite, so much so that among the first customers of the Pinin Farina, there is the queen of Romania: receives the variant of the spider, the Lancia Dilambda, the first model to be signed by the turin coachbuilder out in the factory on corso Trapani in Turin, where they work 150 people.

THE FIRST FERRARI – In the 30’s the Pinin Farina produces the bodywork for some cars of Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Isotta Fraschini and Lancia. CHANGE THE SURNAME – At the age of 68 years, in 1961, Giuseppe Farina leaves the control of the company to his son Sergio and son-in-law Renzo Carli. BETWEEN TURIN AND DETROIT – In the 80’s is the inauguration of the Pininfarina Extra, the division specialized in industrial design , and other means of transport. 1986 was the year of listing on the stock exchange, the opening of the production plant in San Giorgio Canavese and the Cadillac Allanté, cabriolet, whose complicated (and expensive) the production process would be in the past history: the body is manufactured in Grugliasco, finished to St George and was then sent to Detroit where it goes to the floor.
