Formula 1 – Sergio Perez positive for Covid-19

Sergio Perez positive Covid-19 and therefore will not participate in the Grand Prix of Great Britain. The team Racing Point did he know that the mexican driver is fine, is in good health, but it is a positive result to the swab for the coronavirus and therefore remained in isolation, while respecting the procedure set by the protocols of the Formula 1.

The case. Perez was supposed to attend today at the press conference of the pilots, an event that officially opens the weekend of the race. However, after a defined test “inconclusive”, the mexican driver there was no trace on the track. The suspicions of a potential case are reflected in the evening of today: the results of a second swab confirmed that Sergio has contracted the virus and remains in quarantine, in accordance with the terms imposed by public health authorities. The FIA has confirmed that there are matches all of the collateral initiatives for the complete traceability of the persons who were in close contact with the pilot in the last few days, and even for them it is taken to the quarantine.

Hunt a substitute. Perez will have to skip this race weekend, but it is very likely that it will be forced to not run other races, at least until the state of his health does not return to normal, and will continue to be negative for the Covid-19. The Racing Point has already made it known that points to participate in the race on Sunday, with two cars and said that soon will be announced the name of the substitute of Perez. In the press release also reads: “All the team wishes you Sergio a speedy recovery and can’t wait to have him back behind the wheel of RP20”.
