Pirelli – A new Tyre for the 500 vintage

A great classic that is back on the market, with compounds up to date. Let’s talk about the CN54, a novelty of the line Pirelli Collection, dedicated to the icons of the world of the cars produced between 1950 and 1980. Among these is the legendary Fiat 500 of 1957, to which the merit of having motorized the Peninsula. The tire for it studies is more recent, having been launched for the first time in 1972 with the advent of the last series (“R”) of the cinquino of the past. Before this, the previous 500 had already used other tyres, like the models in the Cisa and the Stelvio, over the Simplon, “Shoulder Safety”, launched on the “D” series of the 1960s, which promised a better grip in the corners. All, as the same CN54, in size 125 R 12.

Seventy years of Tyre. The same design, of course, but with compounds and modern, grip better, and a high level of security in the wet. In the design of the CN54, the technicians of the Italian Home, take into account the same parameters considered by the designers of the vintage model, to better accommodate the suspension and mechanics of the original drive. The tire just launched belongs to the family of the Pirelli Cinturato, whose first prototypes were created in the 1950’s. In the history of the tires was a real revolution: it represented the first example of a tire with a radial structure.
